In short

Travels is a personal travel journal. Your content — photos, videos, places, notes, routes — stays yours: it lives on your device and, on Apple devices, can sync through your own iCloud account. Alemik neither collects nor stores your data on its own servers. No ads, no advertising trackers, no telemetry.

What the app stores

Travels saves the data you enter:

• trips (name, dates, cover);
• places and their coordinates;
• photos and videos you add to a trip;
• notes and captions;
• routes and waypoints.

They are kept in a local database in the app's data folder (on Windows: %APPDATA%\Alemik\Travels\; on iOS/macOS: inside the app container).

Access to your photo library

To add photos and videos to your trips, the app asks permission to access your library. The photos stay where they are: Travels keeps a reference to them and reads their metadata (date, GPS coordinates, dimensions), without copying them to any external server.

Location

Travels does not track your location in real time. It works out where a memory happened from the GPS metadata of the photos you add, and can turn those coordinates into place names through a reverse geocoding service (on Apple devices, Apple's own). There is no continuous location tracking.

Maps and internet access

To show places on a map, Travels downloads map tiles from open-source providers (OpenFreeMap, based on OpenStreetMap) and uses reverse geocoding for place names. Those requests carry no identifying personal data and go to the map providers, not to Alemik servers. Every other function works offline.

iCloud sync (Apple devices only)

When enabled, your data syncs across your Apple devices through your own iCloud account (CloudKit, private database). The data travels only inside your personal iCloud space, managed by Apple: Alemik has no access to it and keeps no copy. Photos remain handled by iCloud Photos (Travels syncs references and metadata, not the files). On Windows there is no sync: the data stays on the device.

Purchases (Pro version)

Pro features unlock through a purchase handled entirely by the store (App Store or Microsoft Store). Payment details are processed by the store, not by Alemik: we neither receive nor keep your card details.

What we do NOT collect

• no telemetry or usage analytics;
• no device information;
• no automatic location;
• no Alemik account (the app requires no sign-up);
• no data sent to Alemik servers or to third parties.

Distribution through stores

Travels is distributed through the App Store (Apple) and the Microsoft Store (Microsoft), which collect purchase and installation information under their own privacy policies, independent of this one (Apple: apple.com/legal/privacy · Microsoft: privacy.microsoft.com).

Your rights

Since the data stays on your device (and possibly in your iCloud):

• you can read and change it from the app at any time;
• you can delete individual items or uninstall the app (uninstalling removes the app's local data);
• on Apple devices you can remove the synced data from your iCloud.

Children

Travels is not intended to collect data about children and, more generally, collects no personal data on any system of ours.

Any significant change will be published on this page, with the date at the top updated.
